    Contactless Payment

Contactless payment infrastructures allow customers to make payments via wireless transactions by tapping their debit cards, credit cards, or smartphones over contactless-enabled card readers.

    What Is Contactless Payment?

Contactless payment, also known as tap to pay, is becoming an increasingly common practice globally as consumers seek secure, quick, and convenient buying experiences. A contactless payment or transaction is one in which the customer does not have to swipe a card or have physical contact with a card reader. Most transactions will not require entering a PIN.

Consumers are able to make a contactless payment by using their debit or credit cards, smartphones, or wearable devices — creating an efficient and easy way to pay wherever they are shopping. The process works by tapping a credit card or smart device to the merchant’s point-of-sale (POS) system that is enabled with a type of radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, near field communication. As mobile payment apps such as Apple Pay and Google Pay become increasingly adopted, consumers will come to expect an easy-to-use contactless payment in their shopping journeys.
