    Ethical Consumerism

Ethical consumerism is a movement in which shoppers put their dollars toward businesses that align with their values and deliberately avoid shopping at organizations that don't align.

    What Is Ethical Consumerism?

As a kind of moral-based economics, ethical consumerism is when shoppers spend their money at organizations, brands, and retailers that align with their values. This shopping approach can apply to several types of values, including environmental, social, or political. A coffee drinker might put their dollars toward a business that ethically sources their beans, for example, and avoid coffee shops that don't use sustainable practices. Another shopper might avoid businesses that make explicit political statements they don't agree with, saving their purchases for organizations that connect with their political values. As such, ethical consumerism is an activist-oriented approach to driving corporate responsibility by using money as a tool for change.
