    Franprix Onboards Nearly 1,200 Suppliers in Just 3 Months With Automated Data Management

    Franprix is a French grocery retailer with a network more than 1,000 stores, which are primarily located in city centers like Paris, with select locations across the rest of France.

    This long-established retailer generated €1.44 billion in sales in 2021 and offers a comprehensive range of food and non-food products to meet the needs of urban residents seeking quality products.

    In 2019, Franprix faced the challenge of onboarding nearly 1,200 of its suppliers of varying sizes to the Salsify Product Experience Management (PXM) platform within three months. The Franprix team had two end goals for this process: populating its mobile app and improving the reliability of its product catalog.

    Franprix needed a way to scale its product data management, make it more reliable, and connect to data sources following the 2017 launch of its m-commerce app and the implementation of its product information management (PIM) solution.

    At the start, the Franprix team was quickly faced with the time-consuming process of collecting product data manually across a variety of sources with disparate and unreliable data.

    Supplier-Supported Data Input Drives Catalog Growth

    The Franprix team quickly realized that to improve the quality of information and speed of collection, the best course of action was to set up a catalog where the suppliers would add the data themselves.

    The Franprix team built the catalog data model around the data needs of its legal requirements and m-commerce app, primarily due to the logistics of order picking.

    The retailer met with its stakeholders, including the project management team and those in daily contact with the suppliers, to involve them in the monitoring process to guarantee the smoothest possible execution.

    Methodical Support and Follow-Up for Swift Onboarding

    A dedicated member of the Franprix team guided its suppliers through the onboarding process step-by-step. This team member also used the platform-integrated call-to-action (CTA) and chat modules, as needed, to issue reminders to suppliers.

    Additionally, onboarding reports in the Salsify platform helped suppliers monitor progress.

    Suppliers already using Salsify linked their accounts to the Franprix catalog to upload data — without re-entering any information. Franprix worked with Salsify to organize training sessions for other suppliers (who signed up en masse) to teach them how to enter their product data.

    Automated and Reliable Data Management Across Almost 14,000 SKUs

    Franprix manages almost 14,000 SKUs within the Salsify platform. Its team went from having a manual, highly disparate catalog input process to an automated, reliable process in just three months.

    Now, when a supplier updates a product, the new data is immediately integrated into the Franprix catalog, helping it expand its responsiveness, technical agility, and organizational agility.
