Salsify's proprietary, cloud-hosted experience platform that serves as the foundation on which all product modules and applications are built.
Key platform capabilities include:
Activation
Enables brands to activate product content (stored in Base Platform) to all digital shelf endpoints, such as retailers and marketplaces
Includes options for two "non-traditional" endpoints not specific to a particular retailer
PIM (generally for new customers and customers that purchased Salsify after 2/1/2020)
Governance (generally for customers that purchased Salsify prior to 2/1/2020)
Enables brands to add structure and governance to how product content is stored and validated
Enhanced Content
Salsify tool for building and publishing enhanced content at scale and across retailers
Insights
A suite of digital shelf analytics reports that deliver data and actions to optimize product performance.
GDSN
A network of data pools that enables companies to manage and exchange all product data (including supply chain and marketing information) in a standardized, unified solution
Salsify Sites & Experiences
Salsify Sites & Experiences enables the creation of out-of-the-box, B2B, or B2E focused site experiences.
PIM for D2C
Above mentioned PIM functionality for the purpose of enabling brands to manage, activate, engage, and optimize product content on their D2C destinations (e.g., Shopify, Bigcommerce)
Salsify Orders & Inventory / Marketplace Commerce
A centralized commerce hub for brands to manage direct selling destinations at scale (marketplaces, social media, and ecommerce platforms).
Authorized User
Authorized User means each of Customer’s employees, agents, and independent contractors who are enabled with access to the Platform.
Each Authorized User’s license is intended solely for such Authorized User and cannot be shared or used by any other individual, provided that it may be reassigned to a new Authorized User replacing the previous Authorized User if the previous Authorized User terminates its employment Customer, changes job status or function, or otherwise no longer requires use of the Platform.
For avoidance of doubt, the aggregate number of Authorized Users accessing and using the Platform at any time shall never exceed that aggregate amount of Authorized User licenses purchased by Customer.
SKU
An individual record stored in the Salsify platform, including product and non-product records. SKUs exclude Digital Assets. SKU entitlements apply to both production and non-production instances.
In the case of records in a hierarchy, the records at each level of the hierarchy are counted separately. SKUs representing the same product or other entity in two or more Salsify instances are counted separately.
Digital Asset
Any content that is stored digitally in the Platform, including images, videos, comparison charts, photos, logos, and brand guides. Digital Asset entitlements apply to both production and non-production instances. Digital Assets representing the same content stored multiple times in one or more Salsify instances are counted separately.
Operating Unit
A distinct licensing center for an organization
Can vary depending on the internal structure of a customer’s business
Generally represents a separate management structure and/or P&L (i.e. Region, Brand, Country, Division, etc.)
Bandwidth
The monthly amount of data, in gigabytes, transmitted from Salsify’s content delivery network (CDN) to any internet channel. Asset Bandwidth entitlements apply to data stored in both production and non-production instances.
Storage
The size, measured in gigabytes, of all assets that a Customer has stored in the Platform. Asset Storage entitlements apply to both production and non-production instances.
Instances
Production Instance:
Non-Production Instance:
Digital Shelf (Activation)
A unique selling destination. There are three considerations for what qualifies as a digital shelf:
Unique .com endpoint: For most retailers and marketplaces, this is typically a .com endpoint, regardless of the number of channels used in Salsify to send product data to the endpoint. Examples: Lowes.com, Wayfair.com. A D2C site also qualifies as a unique .com endpoint.
Same .com but different selling models: Distinct selling models (1P/owned vs 3P/marketplace) that are part of the same .com domain count as unique digital shelves. Examples: Walmart.com (1P) vs Walmart Marketplace (3P) and Amazon Vendor (1P) vs Seller (3P) -- each would be two different digital shelves
Family of domains that operate as a single entity: Example: Amazon treats all five Amazon Marketplaces in Europe as a single entity -- Amazon Europe. That would represent a single Amazon Europe Digital Shelf, allowing customers to activate content across all available Amazon marketplaces in Europe.
Channel (Activation)
A content syndication endpoint from the Platform
Activation Region (Activation)
A geographic region where an organization is entitled to activate content
Refers only to where the data is being sent, not where it is created or managed
There are five Activation Regions: 1. North America (US, Canada, Mexico); 2. EMEA (Countries in Europe, Middle East, and Africa); 3. APJ (Countries in Asia-Pacific, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand and Oceania); 4. China; 5. LATAM (Countries in Latin America and South America)
Note that while APJ region includes Australia/New Zealand, it does not include access to the SKUlibrary network of retailers, which must be purchased separately. Salsify offers a custom SKU: SKUlibrary Retailer Activation Network wherein customers can purchase this to access and syndicate to the SKUlibrary retailer network.
SKUlibrary Retailer Activation Network (Activation)
Syndication access to the exclusive SKUlibrary retailer network from SKUvantage. These retailers are in Australia/New Zealand.
Impression (Enhanced Content)
Salsify counts an Impression when a retailer retrieves Enhanced Content from Salsify’s CDN for the purpose of rendering the Enhanced Content on the retailer’s product detail page. Entitlements for Impressions are measured per subscription year as indicated on the applicable Order.
GLN (GDSN)
1 global location network (GLN) entitlement is consumed when a customer has synchronized at least 1 product to a particular data recipient GLN via the Salsify GDSN data pool.
Marketplace (Salsify Orders & Inventory / Marketplace Commerce)
An e-commerce destination that processes consumer transactions for brand manufacturers or other sellers to fulfill and service
Orders (Salsify Orders & Inventory / Marketplace Commerce)
Any new order brought into the Platform after Salsify initiates a marketplace connection
Listing (Insights)
A unique product that is live on a retailer site and monitored through an Insights report
Site (Insights)
An individual website domain that is monitored by Insights
Frequency (Insights)
The number of times Salsify crawls a given product on a product detail page in a defined time period (e.g. every 8 hours)
