What Are In-App Purchases?

In-app purchases can occur in a number of different ways. A gamer can buy character enhancements from a mobile app game, for example. Or, a customer can download a brand's mobile app to find and purchase specific products. Alternatively, a smartphone user might buy additional content from their favorite storytelling app. In each of these cases — and many more — consumers find and purchase what they need directly through the app, creating a convenient and fast shopping experience. In-app purchases are revenue-boosting opportunities for brands because they capture already-engaged customers who browse on the app.
