    Purchase Frequency

Purchase frequency is a measurement of how often a consumer makes a purchase within a specific time period.

    What Is Purchase Frequency?

Purchase frequency is a critical customer retention metric that evaluates how many times a consumer makes a purchase within a particular time period. Generally, the more a customer purchases from a brand or retailer, the stronger their brand loyalty. Additionally, higher purchase frequencies also mean more opportunities to connect with, upsell, and strengthen relationships with customers However, benchmarking for purchase frequency varies significantly depending on the industry and product. A household staple like toilet paper, for example, will generate a higher purchase frequency than a car. Typically, brands and retailers measure purchase frequency by dividing the total number of orders in a time period by the number of unique customers in that same period.
