    Zero-Click Searches

Zero-click searches are queries in which the searcher receives an answer directly on the search engine page without having to click into another page.

    What Are Zero-Click Searches?

Websites use search engine optimization (SEO) to increase their rankings and drive traffic to their sites — and search engines like Google do the same thing. In recent years, Google and other engines have implemented various algorithmic changes to facilitate zero-click searches, or those in which the searcher gets a direct answer to their question right on the search engine results page (SERP).

This has both pros and cons for brands, retailers, and other websites.

On one hand, if a customer gets the answer to their question directly on Google, they're less likely to click into the brand's website and browse further. On the other hand, featured snippets and artificial intelligence (AI) responses often cite the website through which they got the information, lending serious credibility and reputation boost to that site.

If a brand or retailer can optimize their web pages for zero-click searches, they can enhance customers' trust and loyalty to the brand.
