    Direct-to-Store Ecommerce

Direct-to-store ecommerce is a delivery model in which suppliers deliver online orders directly to retail stores, rather than warehouses or distribution centers.

    What Is Direct-to-Store Ecommerce?

When consumers shop online, they click "buy," and a few days later, their items arrive. But on the back end, ecommerce retailers must manage a complex supply chain to make this process happen. Direct-to-store ecommerce is one method of streamlining the order fulfillment and delivery processes. In this model, a supplier or manufacturer delivers inventory items directly to retail store locations, bypassing distribution centers altogether. Then, the retailer can ship items out to customers or have customers pick up their items in-store to fulfill orders. Because the direct-to-store ecommerce model skips over the use of a distribution center or warehouse, it saves retailers significant time and money when fulfilling orders.
